Onyx Dragon by Terry Bolryder

Onyx Dragon
by Terry Bolryder
Awakened Dragons book 1

Blurb from Amazon:
The dragons are back, and they're our last chance...

Isaac Morningstar III, or Zach to the few who know him, has hit rock bottom. Once an immortal, nearly-invincible dragon, he's been awakened only to have his powers and his treasure locked away until he can prove himself to be a trustworthy protector of humans. Since Zach has never liked humans, he's pretty sure he's going to end up back on ice. That is, until he meets sweet, curvy Erin, a human hairdresser who might just turn his world upside down.

Erin has a pretty routine life, but that ends when a tall, gorgeous man appears out of nowhere, claiming to be an ancient dragon with immeasurable power who wants her as his mate. She doesn't know whether to laugh or run for the hills. But when the mysterious stranger saves her life and needs her help she can't just turn away. Still, the closer she gets to Zach, the more she realizes there may just be something truly magical about him.

But as the forces around them close in, Zach is quickly realizing that the darkness lurking inside him may be greater than he anticipated. And the beast within may not be the only thing they have need to fear.

Warning: contains ferocious dragons, fearsome fights, fiery love scenes and a fiercely cute three-legged kitten that will steal your heart. The first in a brand new series with dragons unlike anything Terry has written!

The Review

Okay, at first I really, REALLY wanted to *HATE* Zach, the hero. He was misogynistic and a downright asshole, but then I really got to know him through the heroine's eyes and realized that was simply the way that things were back in his time. You see, Zach, aka Isaac Morningstar III, was a dragon from the middle ages! Back then it was perfectly fine for the men to say, you should be thankful that I'm paying you the attention that I am.

He chills quickly though and with the help of Erin he becomes more than just a dragon from long lost past, he becomes a fighter for humanity... and a little ball of fluff that he called Bo.

I think that's when I fell in love with him, when they adopted the three legged cat, that's when it became truly telling just what sort of man that Zach could be and that was when I saw in him what the Oracle saw in him.

I can't wait to read the next book in this series, Sapphire Dragon. I want to know more about these dragons and I actually want to read more from this author, again, she's another new author to me.

My rating - 5 stars!

Blurb from Amazon: Dragon Shifter Novel
Dragon shifters are a dying breed. There are so few females left that, if drastic measures are not taken, and soon, it’ll be over for the species. The threat of extinction looms.

King Blaze finally accepts that there is no other option but to evoke an age old tradition.
The Hunt.

The eligible dragon shifter males must hunt a handful of females. It’s first catch, first serve. The biggest problem is that the females are human. Despite feedback to the contrary, Coal thinks they are weak and breakable. In his opinion, not capable of surviving the hunt, let alone the mating that will follow. He doesn’t believe that a lowly human is capable of birthing him a royal heir, so why has his brother, the king, tasked him with claiming one?

He can’t believe this is happening to him. Especially when most of the males in their tribe are willing to accept one of these puny females. Not him. He’s never rutted with one and doesn’t have any desire, whatsoever, to rut with one in the future, let alone mate and impregnate one. Claiming one of these females will not be an easy feat considering there are three other dragon tribes vying for the opportunity.

How the hell is he supposed to do all of this when he doesn’t want to come within a mile of one of these unsavory creatures?

This book can be read as a standalone but would be best enjoyed as a part of the series (Start with Chosen by the Vampire Kings). No cliffhanger!

The story contains strong sexual themes/language and is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Review

This is the first book that I've read by this author and I will admit, I now want to go back and read more! I fell in love with Coal and Julie. This couple just screamed to be together! The book was well crafted, witty, charming and utterly hilarious in parts. I loved every second of this book.

I wanted to hate Coal, I really did. I mean to start with he had wanted to marry another woman and hated his brother for forcing him to engage in the bride hunt but in the end I think he wound up thanking him.

Okay, some downsides.

I think that these are only because this is the first time I've read this author so please do not let this dissuade you from reading this book because it was a great book!

1. I didn't know what the Dragon King was referring to when he was talking about some program (going to go back and get more of her books so I can learn however!)

2. I really *hated* that the men had no idea that letting the female dragons take care of the fragile human women was a good idea - idiots. Shakes head (of course they are going to be jealous! Morons! LOL!)

3. I didn't really like that in this book it was not only Coal and Julie but also Blaze (another male dragon) and his human he caught and another male dragon and his human (can't think of their names off the top of my head). To me this cheated me out of 2 more books. I wanted to read more about these dragons and now that they have their HEA, well it kinda ruined it for me.

4. I wanted to hate the Earth Dragon, but I felt bad for him, like really bad for him. I know he will get his HEA and I look forward to reading how he does.

5. I want to know more about the Sky Dragons.

6. It was too short. I wanted more.

7. I'm ready for the next book! (not a bad thing!)

Boarlander Bash Bear by T.S. Joyce

About the book:

Boarlander Bash Bear
written by T.S. Joyce
Published February 11, 2016

The Review:

This is the story of Bash who is a grizzly shifter and Emerson who is a human female. I fell in love with Bash in the first book, Boarlander Boss Bear, and his story only proved to me that I was right in falling for him. He's so sweet, kind and bashful. He seems to be so backwards and while he doesn't know how to act around the woman that he's decided is his mate. He's got a number of quirks, one of them is the fact that he's completely honest and upfront. If he thinks it or feels it he's going to say it and that makes him utterly lovable.

Emerson is a freelance editor and as long as she has her laptop she's able to work from anywhere. She knows what she wants and when she learns that he wants her as well it makes her crazy happy and she's more than ready to fall for him as he's fallen for her.

I enjoy T.S. Joyce's writings so much, and I'm so thankful that she has her books on Amazon Kindle Unlimited. I love that she brings back previous characters so that we can see how they are doing. Her writing just tends to get better and better as time goes on.
